What Makes Matthew Meadow Special
Located conveniently to Old Town, the Rio Grande Nature Center, the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, several museums, and easy access to I40 and I25, Matthew Meadow is that special place. We are a small community of 185 well kept homes. Easy access to several acequias provides walking paths in many directions. On a daily basis, you’ll find many of our neighbors and friends walking through the neighborhood and along the acequias, and always with a friendly smile and a “good day” greeting. Our association strives to provide its residents with different events and activities.
Our History
James Matthew immigrated to Albuquerque from Canada in 1880. He opened a dairy that occupied most of the land from 12th street to Rio Grande Boulevard and from Candelaria to the Alameda Drain. His brother, Albert, moved to Albuquerque in 1906. When James died in 1931, the Matthew’s Jersey Dairy was sold to the Price family of El Paso, becoming Price’s Valley Gold. Most of the investors were from the Price family but Conrad Hilton was also an investor. In the 1970’s the Price family sold part their corporation to Dean Food of Chicago, IL and Bordens bought their Albuquerque processing plants. The land was then sold to developers.
